18.2.2016 •The Czech officer, Major Radek M., assumed command of the 438th Air Expeditionary Advisory Squadron during a ceremony in Kabul last week. The squadron, which was renamed the 311th Air Expeditionary Advisory Squadron will continue in the tradition of the Czechoslovak 311th Bomber Squadron which courageously and successfully fought in the Royal Air Force during World War II.

8.2.2016 •As part of the BLED 2016 exercise being held in Slovenia, the third rotation of Czech military surgeons, medics and support personnel left the Military Medical Agency base at Hradec Kralove last week to join the Slovenian Armed Forces in order to help them deal with the migration flow.

1.2.2016 •Training scenario: A convoy of Czech and American soldiers based in Bagram (Afghanistan) sets out on a routine patrol. A bomb explodes under a vehicle. The convoy stops and the patrolmen ascertain the casualties and damage. They provide first aid, initiate evacuation procedures, and then carry on with their mission.

25.1.2016 •The recent changes in legislation and the increase in funding for the Czech Armed Forces will boost the recruitment of soldiers to around two thousand for this year. The changes will also set in motion the procurement process of replacing outmoded equipment with new, consequently creating a stronger and more capable Active Reserve force.

18.12.2015 •The extraordinary session of the Ministers of Defence of the Visegrad Four (V4) countries, held in Prague on 17th December, confirmed the willingness of the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland and Slovakia to play an important role in the protection of the Schengen Area and the management of the migration crisis.

11.12.2015 •Within the authority of the Czech Presidency of the V4, a session of the Senior Group of the four Visegrad Group countries (V4 Group) was held at Prague’s House of the Army on 11th December. The session was chaired by Mr. Jakub Landovsky, Deputy Defence Minister, Head of the Defence Policy and Strategy Division, who was representing the Czech Republic.

7.12.2015 •The traditional pre-Christmas meeting between Chief of the General Staff Lieutenant General Josef Becvar and the Attachés of Defence, and the Air and Military Attachés accredited to the Czech Republic was held at the Hotel DAP, the House of the Army in Prague, on 3rd December.
