18.3.2009 •The two-day informal meeting of Defence Ministers of the EU Member States continued on Friday 13 March in Prague.

18.3.2009 •On Thursday 12 March 2009 the two-day informal meeting of Defence Ministers of the EU Member States started in Prague. This meeting is the only opportunity for the EU Defence Ministers to meet in the Czech Republic during the Czech Presidency to discuss current issues on the European Security and Defence Policy agendas. The meeting is presided over by Czech Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister Vlasta Parkanová.

10.3.2009 •In the context of appearance by the Czech Minister of Defence Vlasta Parkanová in ”Otázky Václava Moravce” TV program (Czech Television, March 8th, 2009), some media, especially those with international coverage, reported that there were plans to reduce the number of Czech military personnel deployed for KFOR mission in Kosovo.

6.3.2009 •On 4 - 5 March 2009 the International EU Deployability Conference took place in the renovated House of the Army in Prague.

4.2.2009 •On 3 February 2009 an international military seminar ‘Availability of helicopters – Way ahead for Mi–Type Helicopters’ was held in Prague within the framework of the activities of the Czech Presidency of the EU Council.

30.1.2009 •As part of the Czech Presidency of the Council of the European Union, the city of Prague will host, on February 3, 2009, an international politico-military workshop on ”Helicopter Availability – Way Ahead for Mi- Type Helicopters”, held under the auspices of the First Deputy Minister of Defence of the Czech Republic.

23.1.2009 •In a one-day visit, French General Henri Bentégeat, Chairman of the EU Military Committee, discussed priorities of the Czech EU Presidency with defence representatives in Prague on 22 January 2009.

26.11.2008 •The meeting of the EU defence ministers in March 2009 will not be held in Olomouc but in Prague, the Czech Government decided on its meeting on 24 November 2008.

9.9.2008 •Based on a request by Brigadier General Kyosto Halonen, KFOR Multinational Task Force Centre Commander, a Czech reserve company, which is on a stand-by in the Czech Republic, was activated on Saturday 6 September 2008.

2.7.2008 •Czech Minister of Defence Vlasta Parkanova during her two-day visit to London met with her British counterpart Des Browne and handed over awards to Czechoslovak World War II veterans.
