11.5.2015 •Military and political representatives, as well as war veterans and the citizens of the Czech Republic commemorated the 70th anniversary of the end of WWII last week and participated in events around the country paying tribute to those who lost their lives during the war. Following is a brief description, with photos, of the various ceremonies held in Ostrava, Prague and Pilsen.

6.5.2015 •Lieutenant General Josef Becvar was appointed the new Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Czech Republic by President Milos Zeman at Prague Castle on 4th May.

28.4.2015 •At a regular defence ministers' meeting of the Visegrad Group (V4), ministers of Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Hungary discussed upcoming joint activities for defence cooperation of the V4 countries. The meeting was held in the city of Tomasov, near Bratislava, on 23rd April.

20.4.2015 •Prior to NATO's Air Defence Exercise Tobruq Legacy, which will be held at the Boletice Military Training Area from 22nd June - 4th July, personnel of the 26th Air Command, Control and Surveillance Regiment at Stara Boleslav, along with their American colleagues, have been testing the data transmission equipment used for the effective tracking of missiles to air targets.

10.4.2015 •EDA Chief Executive Jorge Domecq travelled to the Czech Republic today to exchange views with Czech Republic's Deputy Minister Daniel Kostoval ahead of the June 2015 European Council. Together, they discussed Czech Republic’s participation in EDA activities as well as the country’s priorities in terms of capability development, regional cooperation and support to the defence industry.

8.4.2015 •Three Augusta A-109 Belgian helicopters landed last week at the Air Base at Namest to take part in their regular practice flight missions with their Czech counterparts. The joint Czech-Belgian "Exercise South Plains" will continue until 10th April.

30.3.2015 •The soldiers of the U.S. Army 2nd Cavalry Regiment entered the Czech Republic from Poland on Sunday, 29th March, crossing three borders at Nachod, Bohumin and Harrachov, on their way from the Baltic states and Poland to their home base in Vilseck, Germany.

23.3.2015 •Paratroopers of the Czech 43rd Airborne Battalion and the Polish 18th Airborne Battalion completed their ten-day joint Paratrooper Fire exercise during Operation Moonrider last week, where they destroyed ‘enemy’ airfield support facilities.

18.3.2015 •An increasing number of schools have been taking part in a project that enables their pupils to become more familiar with the Czech Armed Forces, its mission, methods, and conduct of citizens in the event of an emergency.

12.3.2015 •On Thursday, the Czech army began rotating its soldiers taking part in the European Union Training Mission in Mali, and Chief of General Staff General Petr Pavel flew with the new unit to Bamako to talk with the EUTM Commander, General Alfonso García-Vaquero Pradal, and also met with the soldiers who participated in the multi-national mission.

2.3.2015 •Representatives of the Defence Committees of the Czech Parliament and National Council of the Slovak Republic, who met at the 21st Tactical Air Force Base at Caslav last week, agreed that their mutual cooperation in air defence and joint training will continue.

23.2.2015 •During his three-day visit to India, Minister Martin Stropnicky, who officiated at the opening of the exhibition stand of Czech Aircraft Industries at the Air India Exhibition, met with the Defence Minister of India, Mr Manohar Parrikar, and also had talks with the representatives of Swedish and Indian aircraft companies.
