Europe 2006: Four Medals for Military Athletes

All four medals for the Czech Republic at the 19th European Athletics Championships 2006 in Göteborg, Sweden, were won by military athletes from DUKLA Army Sports Centre.

The 19th European Athletics Championships 2006 held in Göteborg, Sweden, Monday August 7 to Sunday August 13, 2006, have been the most successful athletic event for Czech sports since the championships held in Athens, Greece, in 1982, when then Czechoslovakia won nine medals.


GOLD in Decathlon (Men) for Roman Sebrle, born November 26, 1974 with 8526 points;

SILVER in Javelin Throw (Women) for Barbora Spotakova, born June 30, 1981 with 65.64 meters;

SILVER in High Jump (Men) for Tomas Janku, born December 27, 1974 with 234 centimeters;

BRONZE in Javelin Throw (Men) for Jan Zelezny, born June 16, 1966 with 85.92 meters.
