Gripen - Agreements

On Monday, 14 June 2004, agreements between the Czech Republic and the Kingdom of Sweden concerning the lease of JAS-39 Gripen supersonic aircraft to be introduced into service with the Armed Forces of the Czech Republic will be signed at the Ministry of Defence. The Government of the Czech Republic made the decision on the lease of Gripen aircraft at its meeting on 9 June, 2004 (Executive Resolution). The Government commissioned the Ministry of Defence with finalizing negotiations with the Swedish party and signing contractual obligations on behalf of the Czech party.

On behalf of the Czech party, contractual obligations will be signed by the Minister of Defence of the Czech Republic, H.E. Miroslav Kostelka and the Deputy Minister of Defence for Armaments, Mr. Jaroslav Kopřiva. For Swedish party, Agreements will be signed by the Minister of Defence of the Kingdom of Sweden, H. E. Leni Björklund and Chief Executive Officer of the Swedish Defence Materiel Administration, Mr. Jan-Olof Lind.

The package of agreements to enable the lease of 12 single- and 2 double-seat Gripen aircraft for 10 years will comprise: Memorandum of Understanding between the Government of the Czech Republic and the Government of the Kingdom of Sweden concerning the use of JAS-39 Gripen aircraft, Agreement between the Ministry of Defence of the Czech Republic and Swedish Defence Materiel Administration  concerning the lease of JAS-39 Gripen aircraft, support systems and provision of related services, and Agreement on Industrial Co-operation.
