Military chaplains serving with ACR
Chaplains have started to serve with the Czech military only after the birth of the Czech Republic (January 1, 1993). The military have had its first experience with a military chaplain during IFOR/SFOR missions in Bosnia and Herzegovina in 1996 - 1997.
Based on this practice, an agreement has been concluded between the Ministry of Defence and churches associated at the Ecumenical Council of Churches and churches represented by the Czech Bishops Conference.
The service of a military chaplain is limited in time and lasts from six to eight years in general. During twenty three years, when military chaplains have been serving with the Czech military, five Christian churches sent more than 70 of their representatives to the military chaplaincy.
