Work of the Czech National Support Element at KAIA
The Czech NSE has been operating at the Kabul International Airport (KAIA) since 2007. As part of the Czech military Task Force ISAF, it is responsible for overall logistic support for all Czech military units deployed in Afgahnistan.
Another day starts for soldiers of the Czech National Support Element when a contractor IL-76 aircraft lands with material and supplies for Czech units at the Kabul International Airport.
Storemen are ready close to airport parking area with three Tatra trucks. Todays task for aircraft crew and Czech "transporters" is to unload and load the spacious cargo plane within just two hours. Several containers with material arrived from the Czech Republic and used material and two trucks are sent back home.
Warrant Office Ondrej V., the chief transport master storeman, the load master, contacts the aircraft pilot for checking documents while the aircraft crew opens a rear door for discharging.
Containers are transported to a storage area, where the material will be sorted and later delivered to addressees.
The loading of Praga P-V3S is a delicate task, because dimensions of the truck allow only centimetres offside to the rear door of IL-76.
Mission accomplished, aircraft ready to take off, Warrant Officer Ondrej V. leaves the parking area as the last.
