PM Necas: Czech troops focus on training of Afghan forces
After visiting Afghan President Hamid Karzai, Czech PM Petr Necas meets with his soldiers in Logar and Wardak provinces.
“President Karzai highly appreciated service of Czech soldiers and their performance in helping Afghan people,“ says Petr Necas after talks he had with President of Afghanistan Hamid Karzai.
Czech military presence will go on also after 2014 when ISAF mission mandate terminates.
“We will gradually downsize our presence in Afghanistan, but Czech soldiers will continue to train Afghan armed forces even after 2014,“ Petr Necas says. According to Czech PM, the highest Afghan representative speaked about Afghan interest in Czech subsonic aircraft L-159 ALCA, cooperation in industry, transport and education.
Accompanied by Chief of the General Staff of ACR Lieutenant General Petr Pavel, First Deputy Foreign Minister Jiri Schneider and Ambasador of the Czech Republic to Afghanistan Miroslav Kosek, Czech Prime Minister Petr Necas visitied Czech soldiers serving in KAIA Base in Kabul, Provincial Reconstruction Team and Military Advisory Team in Logar and Czech soldiers in the Wardak Province.
Prime Minister Petr Necas supported activities of Czech soldiers in Afghanistan. The two-day visit was held 13 and 14 April 2013.
