Personnel of a new PRT Logar train prior to ISAF deployment
A complex military training of upcoming 9th Czech Provincial Reconstruction Team, which will serve in the Afghan Province of Logar from February 2012, starts at the Czech Military Training Area at Hradiste.
Commander of the 4th Rapid Deployment Brigade Colonel Miroslav Hlavac opened a comprehensive training exercise of his brigade this week. The exercise includes a specific training of personnel who will form the military part of the 9th Provincial Reconstruction Team serving in favour of ISAF in Logar Province of Afghanistan.
The field training comprises all necessary skills, drills and rehearsals which closely imitate real service in Afghanistan.
The task of the PRT is to assist Afghan people in reconstruction of their country and help stabilise security environment. Soldiers accompany and protect Czech civilian experts who, in cooperation with local authorities, provide, plan and organise projects predominantly in sectors of education, agriculture and water management. These activities significantly improve lives of local people and help reduce poverty.
The core of the 9th PRT Logar is formed by soldiers of the 42nd Mechanised Battalion based at Tabor. Many soldiers of the battalion have already experience from service on foreign operations including commander of the 9th Czech PRT Colonel Antonin Genser.
