Parade and medals for soldiers after Afghan mission
Prime Minister and acting Minister of Defence Petr Necas greets soldiers who returned from their ISAF mission in Afghanistan and congratulates them to awards they receive at a parade and welcome ceremony at Brandys nad Labem.
More than a hundred soldiers of 5th ACR Task Force ISAF and their commander Colonel Martin Stochl gathered at the Masaryk Square at Brandys nad Labem after a six-month tour in Kabul, Afghanistan.
Their task was the overall logistic and administrative support of all Czech soldiers and citizens serving on ISAF operation in Afghanistan. Besides logisticians (National Support Element - NSE), the unit consisted also of chemical and biological specialists, helicopter advisors, surgeons with medical team, and Military Police personnel. Several soldiers served at multi-national staffs. With the exception of the NSE, the rest of soldiers worked in favour of the Kabul International Airport multi-national force.
Soldiers received awards, distinctions and badges of honour as an appreciation for their successful service abroad and excellent representation of this country.
The ceremony was also attended by the First Deputy Minister of Defence Vlastimil Picek, Chief of the General Staff of ACR Lieutenant General Petr Pavel, his Deputy - Director of the Joint Operational Centre Major General Ales Opata and other distinguished guests who also handed over the medals to soldiers.
