November Czech unit rotations in Afghanistan
After a six-month deployment to the Resolute Support Mission in Kabul, a section of the Czech unit has returned home. While, on 23rd November, the 19th Air Advisory Team Unit (AAT) were handing over its operational tasks to its successor, the 13th ACR Task Force was preparing for its rotation which will now take place at the beginning of December.
The hand-over ceremony to the 20th AAT which took place at Hamid Karzai International Airport was attended by Brigadier General Murat Sulҫuk Ҫol, Commander of the HKIA RSM Base and various Czech and international units. General Sulҫuk thanked the personnel of the outgoing 19th AAT for their excellent contribution and awarded the unit the NATO Commemorative Medal.
The incoming air specialists will continue with the training, mentoring, and education of pilots and ground personnel of the Afghan National Army Air Force in using and maintaining the Mil Mi-17 general purpose helicopters and the Mil Mi-24 combat helicopters which were provided by the Czech Republic.
The 13th ACR Task Force logisticians are responsible for the preparation of the area, the handling of materials, and administration duties in order to ensure the smooth transition of duties to the new arrivals.
"During their service, the members of our Task Force have gained the respect and appreciation of our coalition partners, and they also participated in many projects aimed at supporting the local inhabitants. I think that we have undoubtedly earned our motto ‘Acta non Verba’ (‘Deeds not Words‘)," said Colonel Miroslav Svoboda, Commander of the 13th ACR Task Force, and added that his soldiers have furthermore gained considerable valuable experience which will stand them in good stead for future military missions.
