"Keep excellent performance and return safely back home!"
In his last visit in Afghanistan in the post of Chief of the General Staff, General Picek appreciates performace of Czech soldiers in ISAF operation and wishes them safe return to their families and friends in the Czech Republic.
Czech military and ministerial delegation headed by the Chief of the General Staff of Armed Forces of the Czech Republic General Vlastimil Picek visited on 14 and 15 June 2012 four of five bases from which almost six hundred of Czech soldiers in Afghanistan operate in provinces of Logar, Nangarhar, Wardak and Capital Kabul.
General Picek expressed his thanks to soldiers for excellent representation of the Czech Republic and its military. He conveyed greetings from home country, awarded several service members for exemplary service and supported soldiers in their further responsible service.

Czech Parliament this June decided to gradually reduce size of Czech military presence in ISAF operation in Afghanistan from current six hundred to 340 in 2014 with an outlook not exceeding 150 personnel in 2015. The deployment will focus on training of local security forces.
Almost 8 thousand Czech soldiers have rotated in ISAF since 2002 so far.
