German General visits the 4th Rapid Deployment Brigade
Lieutenant General Carsten Jacobson, Deputy Commander of the Bundeswehr Army, accepted an invitation to visit the troops and headquarters of the 4th Rapid Deployment Brigade in Zatec which, together with Major General Jan Gurnik, Commander of the Czech Land Forces, took place on 2nd September.
Before the meeting, the Commander of the 4th Rapid Deployment Brigade, Colonel Roman Nahoncik, briefed General Jacobson on the activities of its three battalions, their domestic exercises and foreign deployments. Both commanders then discussed future possibilities of further cooperation through multinational exercises.
Accompanied by General Gurnik and Colonel Nahoncik, General Jacobson went on to inspect static displays of equipment and material of the 4th Brigade. The Commander of the 41st Mechanised Battalion, Lieutenant Colonel Jiri Libal, presented to the group the PHANTOM pistols, BREN attack rifles, DTA sniper rifles, 120mm mortar type 82, and the PANDUR wheeled combat vehicles in all its versions.
"I am very pleased that the German Army has allies such as you. If we are required to use our capabilities at some time in the future, we will be well prepared, and it will be honour for us to take action together," said General Jacobson during the static display.
"I thank all of the brigade members for their very impressive and interesting presentations and displays," added General Jacobson at the end of an informative presentation on the brigade’s overall deployment capabilities within NATO’s Rapid Deployment Forces.
