‘DrillFest‘ is a traditional event which began in 2006 to celebrate the Day of the Czech Army which falls on 30th June. The honour guards performed ceremonies that proved their excellence in preforming drills and knowledge in handling arms, self-composure before their peers and pride in their uniforms, all to the delight of both the invitees and bystanders.

The drills were accompanied by music from the Czech Army Central Band who performed a series of compositions and melodies specifically chosen by each group.

During one particular drill, the soldiers from Germany's Honor Guard captivated the audience with their dance-march set to the well-known song "We Will Rock You", and was accompanied by the excellent singing voice of Senior Navy NCO, Patrik Schüchner.

The Hungarians also presented and unexpected and potentially dangerous exercise. While their eyes were covered with white scarves, they performed an exciting and flawless rifle shooting drill. Both of the Slovak ensembles chose to exhibit their skills in poise and agility accompanied by some well-known melodies, as well as showing off a selection of highly unconventional step sets.

The Polish soldiers, dressed in three different traditional formal service uniforms, carried out a series of their regular and highly accurate drills. They explained that, due to extra responsibilities this year, they had less time to prepare for the event.

It was obvious from the reaction of the audiences in both Prague and Pilsen that 'DrillFest 2017' was a considerable success and had more than achieved its purpose of entertaining and thrilling its audience.
