Czech surgical team reinforces French Military Hospital in Kabul

The 1st Field Surgical Team of the Czech military started its four-month service within ISAF mission with the French Military Hospital at the military part of the Kabul International Airport on Monday 7th February 2011.

The Czech FST, commanded by Lieutenant Colonel Martin Oberreiter, includes two surgeons, an anaesthesiologist, six nurses and an operational officer. At the French Military Hospital the team participates in providing surgical care for ISAF and Afghan National Army soldiers, and also local patients.

They serve at a newly built military hospital at the Kabul International Airport currently led by France and commanded by Colonel Bernard Guennoc.

The hospital at KAIA provides specialised surgical care at the ROLE 3 level. "It is for the first time, when Czech military health service cooperates with our French colleagues. I am convinced that we have a lot we can offer and confirm good quality of Czech field medical services," LTC Oberreiter says.
