Chief of the Pakistan Army visits the Czech Republic
General Raheel Sharif NI (M), HI (M), Chief of the Pakistan Army, during a two-day visit to the Czech Republic last week, held talks with the Czech General Staff and Ministry of Defence representatives on enhancing future military cooperation.
"I am very pleased that your visit has taken place so soon after my own trip to Pakistan. It is an excellent opportunity to continue our negotiations on deepening our mutual cooperation," said General Josef Becvar at his meeting with General Sharif.
H.E. Tajammul Altaf Chughtai, Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan to the Czech Republic, accompanied the military delegation in talks at the offices of the General Staff and at the Ministry of Defence.
Cooperation in military education and training was the main topic of the talks. General Sharif provided an overview of Pakistan military schools and training facilities and General Becvar shared the experience and in-depth knowledge that the Czech army has acquired in its long-term dealings with the threat from weapons of mass destruction.
The Pakistani military delegation was later welcomed by Tomas Kuchta, Deputy Minister of Defence for Industrial Cooperation and Organisations Management Division.
During his May visit to Pakistan, General Becvar was received at the National Counter Terrorism Centre in Pabbi, and at the National Defence University in Islamabad.
