Air defence unit prepares for TACEVAL

For the past two weeks a unit from the 25th Air Defence Missile Regiment has been preparing for the Tactical Evaluation certificate in order to be fully operational for deployment within the NATO Response Force and EU Battle Group.

"The training focuses on both the planning and practical performances of the Task Force Ground Based Air Defence unit, which comprises almost 200 personnel from the Strakonice’s 252nd Air Defence Missile Battalion," said Captain Peter Rabinak, a staff officer of the Battalion.

The TF GBAD is designed to defend ground brigade task forces, air bases, airports and other allied units against air attacks.

One scenario of a tactical exercise carried out at the Hradiste Military Training Area was the air defence support exercise of the 7th Brigade Task Force which was part of an allied operation deployed to protect the state sovereignty of a NATO nation which had come under attack.

"During the exercise, we integrated advanced methods of communication and combat procedures with highly effective mobile air defence weapons. The exercise has brought us closer to obtaining the TACEVAL certificate," concluded Captain Rabinak.
