1st ACR EU TM unit in Mali

The Czech Republic joined the European Union Training Mission (EU TM) in Mali in a bid to support Armed Forces of the Republic of Mali in their effort to suppress insurgents' activities. The deployment was passed by both chambers of the Czech Parliament.

The first task of the Czech unit was to guard the EU TM Headquarters in the capital of Bamako in cooperation with Malian and French soldiers.

The primary mission of 34 Czech soldiers, who moved to Bamako on 14 - 16 March 2013, was to contribute to training of Malian Army and equip its units with Czech small arms and generators.

The Czech participation in the mission is planned for 15 months and the size of the unit can be increased up to 50 soldiers.
