Turkey (Active Fence)

The Czech Republic participated in the allied operation Active Fence which strenghtens the NATO Integrated Air Defence System in the south of Turkey, from September 2014 to January 2015.

A group of seven soldiers from the Operational Systems of Command and Control Centre in Lipnik nad Becvou left Prague - Kbely military airport on 29th August to the Turkish city of Adana. The group called the Deployable Communication Module (DCM) provided a non-stop data, voice and video communication between the Dutch HQ based at the Incirlik Air Base near Adana with NATO command.

The Czech DCM assumed its operational task on 5 September 2014 and was deployed until the end of January 2015. 1st Lieutenant Michaela Curikova

Along with air defence units of the Netherlands, the operation included air defence units of Germany and the United States of America with their Patriot systems.
