The task of the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilisation Mission (MINUSMA) is to support political proces in Mali, help stabilise the country, and create conditions for further humanitarian assistance to Malian people.
The Special Forces Task Force of the Czech Armed Forces in size of up to 25 soldiers was deployed in Mali following United Nations’ mandates and resolutions of the Czech government and Parliament in June 2015.
The Task Force was ready to fulfil the complete spectrum of special operations focusing on special reconnaissance and intelligence activities in favour of the MINUSMA command. The core of the unit returned back home to the Czech Republic at the end of 2016.
The Czech force, earmarked from the 601st Special Forces Group based in Prostejov, closely cooperated with coalition partners in the northeast of Mali.
At present, there are three Czech military officers fulfilling staff duties in the mission's HQ.
