Chief Commander of the Czechoslovak Defence Force
In 1918, he became an officer of the Czechoslovak Legions in Russia. After Nazi Occupation of the Czechoslovak Republic he left to exile. He served at the Ministry of National Defence of the Czechoslovak exile government in London, and served in command posts in Czechoslovak units in the Great Britain and the Soviet Unioin. In the post of the Chief Commander of the Czechoslovak Defence Force, he contributed to restoration of the Czechoslovak Army. After February 1948, he was dismissed from the post. He retired, and later found guilty in a political process. He dies in 1952 in the prison.
