Major exercises of the year.


AMPLE STRIKE 2017   -    23rd August - 12th September 2017

AMSE16

International exercise of air forces, forward air controllers, and coordination with land units - AMPLE STRIKE 2017.

Command Post: 22nd Helicopter Base at Sedlec, Namest nad Oslavou.

Aim: Coordination training of forward air controllers with aircraft crews and commanders of land units. Surmounting enemy air defence and air-to-air refuelling.

Places: Czech Republic: Military Training Areas in Boletice and Libava, 22nd HB Sedlec (Namest), 21st Tactical Air Force Base in Caslav, Pardubice Airport Authority, 15th Engineer Regiment in Bechyne.

Time: flights during 28th August to 8th September 2017.

Personnel: Up to 1,300 soldiers including 200 Czech reservists from Regional Military Commands and Air Force units. About 300 foreign soldiers will participate.

Participation: 18 countries (Canada, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finalnd, France, Germany, Great Britain, Hungary, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, The Netherlands, Poland, Slovakia, Slovenia and the United States of America).

Equipment: Czech aircraft: L-159 ALCA, SAAB-39 Gripen, Mil Mi-24/35 a Mi-171S, Lithuanian L-39, German PC-9, LearJet and Tornado, Polish Su-22, Hungarian SAAB-39 Gripen, Slovenian PC-9, American AH-64 helicopters, two KC-135R tankers, B-1 and B-52 strategic bombers.

ELBE 2017   -    11th - 22nd September 2017

The training exercise of Czech, Slovak and American Texas National Guard soldiers focused on keeping of a pontoon company capabilities earmarked for NATO Response Force 2017 and closer cooperation among engineer units.

TOBRUQ LEGACY 2017   -    7th – 23rd July 2017

International tactical training exercise of ground air defence units was held on territories of Czechia, Lithuania and Romania. About 2,200 soldiers from Czechia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Slovakia, Slovenia, the U.K. and the U.S. participated.

The exercise included Tobruq Arrows live combat fires from short-range air defence missile systems.

TOBRUQ LEGACY 2017


MOUNTAIN FLIGHT 2017   -    28th June - 19th July 2017

Held in France, the exercise aimed to improve helicopter flying skills under extreme conditions. It was part of training before deployment in Afghanistan.

Up to 65 Czech pilots and technicians from 22nd Helicopter Base and 24th Air Transportation Base participated.

BALT 2017   -    22nd May - 3rd June 2017

The complex testing of Czech air defence troops readiness with live combat fires from SA-6 (2K12 KUB) air defence missile system held in Poland. About a hundred personnel from 25th Air Defence Missile Regiment participated.

SCREENER 2017 - 24th April - 5th May 2017

The aim of the exercise held on the Czech territory was to boost interoperability of reconnaissance units and intelligence authorities among the military of this country, Austria, Poland, Slovakia and the United States.

SABER JUNCTION 2017   -    19th - 27th April 2017

One part of the joint US-Czech exercise of airborne units was held in this country. About 150 personnel of 43rd Czech Airborne Battaliion and 170 personnel of US 173rd Airborne Brigade participated.

TRAINING BRIDGE 2017   -    8th January – 22nd March 2017

The exercise held in Lithuania under V4 initiative confirmed the Alliance's comitment to collective defence. More than a hundred personnel from the 7th Mechanised Brigade and 14th Regiment of Logistic Support participated.
